FIND ANSWERS TO YOUR QUESTIONS

  • What is a death doula OR end-of-life doula?
A death doula tends to the practical, emotional, and social needs of a person transitioning out of life. Doulas do not provide medical care but rather fill in the gaps that exist between health care, family support and post death care. Meaningful conversations are encouraged about all things related to end of life. The whole family and friends can be included at the request of the individual. All conversations are tailored around each person’s needs. Education of the dying process is paramount in understanding each person’s values, beliefs, and desires. It is never too early to start these conversations.
  • Who would a death doula work with?
An end-of-life doula works with all ages and in all phases of life. Chronic illness may raise questions about the future, the terminally ill may feel a more immediate need to sort out needs and desires, the tragic quick death may require support to the family in planning vigils, ceremony, and burials.
  • What can I expect from the free 30-minute session?
This is entirely up to you and unique to your preferences. You may be interested in planning ahead for yourself or you may be a family member who is advocating for a loved one. Giving death and dying some forethought can remove anxiety around death and what is to come. Questions that you might have about the death process, dying at home vs in a facility, or comfort care options can be explored.
